Aussies Abroad Preview: Ryan set for United showdown, Socceroos clash in Scotland

Maty Ryan will be gearing up for a clash against Manchester United while Martin Boyle’s Hibernian will go head to head against Tom Rogic’s Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Maty Ryan’s Brighton & Hove Albion have a massive task on their hands as they prepare to host Manchester United at 9:30pm on Saturday night.

Ryan had a quiet afternoon between the sticks against Newcastle United last time out as they cruised to a 3-0 victory.

They will be looking to inflict further damage on a Man United side who were stunned last week against Crystal Palace, going down 2-1 at Old Trafford.

Two Aussies will be potentially going head to head in the Scottish Premiership on Monday as Tom Rogic’s Celtic welcome Martin Boyle’s Hibernian to Parkhead at 12am.

Celtic sit in second place ahead of this clash while Hibs are hot on their heels in third place, just two points behind the reigning champions.

Boyle was instrumental in his side’s 2-2 draw against top of the table Rangers last weekend with the winger assisting both of Hibs’ goals.

In the Danish Superligaen, Awer Mabil’s Midtjylland have a meeting with Randers FC at 1am on Sunday.

Mabil’s side secured their first win of the campaign last weekend after a false start which saw them fall to defeat in their season opener.

They backed up the three points with a 0-0 draw away to Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday morning and will be favourites to get the job done against Randers this weekend.

Mathew Leckie and his Hertha Berlin will face off against Eintracht Frankfurt at 4:30am on Saturday.

Hertha began the season with a bang as they triumphed 4-1 at Werder Bremen with Leckie producing an assist.

Over to Greece where James Jeggo will be featuring for Aris Thessaloniki when they host PAS Giannina at 11pm on Sunday.

Jeggo’s side lead the Greek Super League with two wins from their first two matches while their upcoming opponents were promoted from the second division and will begin their top flight journey this Sunday.

Daniel Arzani will be hoping to be named in the starting line-up for FC Utrecht when they take on RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie at 10:30pm on Sunday.

Arzani was a threat down the right wing when he came on for his debut last week and will be hoping to have a similar effect come this Sunday.

Ajdin Hrustic and his FC Groningen will travel to FC Twente at 4am on Saturday.

Hrustic played almost the full match for Groningen last time out as they won 1-0 away and will be ready to put in another shift if selected by coach Danny Buijs.

Mitch Langerak’s Nagoya Grampus will take on Shimizu S-Pulse in their next J League affair at 3pm on Saturday.

Grampus fell to a 2-1 defeat in their midweek encounter against Gamba Osaka which saw them drop two places on the league table in 6th ahead of their fixture with 16th placed Shimizu.

Thomas Deng will be in action for Urawa Red Diamonds when they host Yokohama FC at 7pm on Saturday.

Deng was absent for the Red Diamonds as they ran out 2-1 winners against Shimizu on Wednesday night as his side retained eighth spot on the table.

Over to the 2. Bundesliga where Brandon Borrello’s Fortuna Dusseldorf will be going in search of their first win of the campaign when they host Wurzburger Kickers at 9pm on Saturday.

Fortuna were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Hamburg last time out and will be keen to pick up their first points of the season when take on the Kickers who also fell to a defeat on the opening weekend.

In the English Championship, Massimo Luongo’s Sheffield Wednesday will do battle against Bristol City at 10pm on Sunday.

Wednesday are undefeated so far this campaign with a win and draw from their first two fixtures.

Harry Souttar and his Stoke City will take to the pitch on Sunday at 12am when they face off against Preston North End.

The Potters endured a 0-0 draw on the opening weekend before going down to Bristol last Sunday.

In League One, Bailey Wright’s Sunderland entertain Peterborough at 12am on Sunday.

Wright’s side are undefeated from their first two fixtures and enter this fixture on the back of a cleansheet away to Oxford.

Milos Degenek’s FK Crvena Zvezda will travel to Mladost Lucani on Sunday with kick off scheduled for 2am.

Degenek’s side have been in formidable form and are unlikely to lose their perfect record against sixth placed Lucani this weekend.

In the K League, Adam Taggart’s Suwon Bluewings have a meeting with FC Seoul at 3pm on Saturday in their first match since the league was broken in half.

The Bluewings will feature in the relegation group which consists of the bottom six sides.

These two sides have already met twice this season with a 3-3 stalemate in their first clash at the beginning of July before the men from the capital took all three points from their meeting just under a fortnight ago.
