Aussies Abroad Preview: Irvine & Boyle gear up for Cup Semi-Final, Vukovic to battle Belgian leaders

Irvine and Boyle will be hoping to progress to the Scottish League Cup Final as Danny Vukovic gloves up for a high profile meeting with the league’s top club.

Irvine and Boyle’s Hibernian will be coming up against St Johnstone in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Saturday.

If they come out on top against St Johnstone they can expect to face off against Livingston or St. Mirren in the showpiece event.

Heading south to England where Harry Souttar and his Stoke City will meet Watford on Friday night.

Souttar’s side are undefeated in their last two fixtures however they will be up against a Watford side who are fighting for an automatic promotion spot.

It will be a big day out for Dougall whose Blackpool travel to the AMEX Stadium on Saturday to go head to head against Brighton in their fourth round FA Cup tie.

Dougall was on hand to score a penalty in his side’s shootout win against West Brom in the previous round.

Both Vukovic and Trent Sainsbury will be in action in Belgium this weekend with Sainsbury’s Kortrijk taking on Cercle Brugge on Saturday before Vukovic’s Genk have a crunch clash with leaders Club Brugge.

In the Bundesliga, Ajdin Hrustic’s Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to a resurgent Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday while Mathew Leckie will hope to take part in Hertha Berlin’s fixture against Werder Bremen.

James Jeggo will be lining up Aris Thessaloniki in the Greek Super League on Saturday when they face off against Apollon Smirnis.

Jeggo’s Aris will be looking to address a two match losing streak which has seen drop to fourth on the ladder.

It will be a case of 8th versus 9th in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday as Craig Goodwin’s Abha Club entertain Al Qadasiya.

Abha’s impressive three game winning run came to an end last time out at the hands of heavyweights Al Ahli.

Despite the defeat they are still firmly in touch with the clubs above them – only four points separates them from the top four.

In the Turkish Super Lig, Aziz Behich’s Kayserispor moved out of the relegation zone thanks to their midweek victory against the Aussie defender’s parent club, Istanbul Basaksehir.

Next up for Kayserispor will be an away clash at Mesut Ozil’s new home, Fenerbahce, on Monday night.

In League One, Bailey Wright will be in his usual centre back role for Sunderland when they host Shrewsbury on Saturday.

Finishing up in the 2. Bundesliga where Brandon Borrello’s Fortuna Dusseldorf will be aiming to go four games unbeaten when they entertain Greuther Furth on Friday night.
