Mile Jedinak-s Crystal Palace are still searching for their first points of the new English Premier League campaign after going down 2-1 to Stoke City overnight. The Eagles led through Marouane Chamakh in his first start for the club but goals from Charlie Adam and Ryan Shawcross consigned Palace to a second successive defeat. Jedinak was again the focal point in midfield and his work rate suggests he has made a full recovery from the ankle injury which limited his involvement in Australia-s recent successful World Cup qualification campaign.

Elsewhere in the EPL, Chris Herd and Brad Jones watched their sides meet from the bench as Liverpool recorded a 1-0 win at Aston Villa. The Reds- back-to-back wins equals their best start to a season for seven years.

In the Championship Shane Lowry and Scott McDonald were both part of the Millwall side that earned their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday. The travelling Millwall side bizarrely had to start the match in Wednesday-s away strip from last season, having left their kits at home. However they showed their true colours in the second half, their fighting spirit helping them come from a goal down to get a draw.

Tom Rogic helped Celtic come from two goals down to earn a point against league leaders Inverness in the Scottish Premier League. The former Mariners star making his first start of the season as Celtic maintained their unbeaten run.

In the German Bundesliga Robbie Kruse was a late substitute for Bayer Leverkusen as they maintained their position joint top of the table with a 4-2 win over Borussia Monchengladbach. They are in good company with last year-s Champions League finalists Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also enjoying winning runs to start the season.

In Russia Luke Wilkshere played a full match in Dinamo Moskva-s 1-1 draw with Zenit St Petersburg. His side maintaining their sixth place in the league.

Turning to Asia, new Mes Kerman signing and former Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe got his first minutes in the Iran Pro League, coming on at the hour mark as his side went down 1-0 to Saipa Karaj.

Chinese Super League action saw Michael Marrone play almost a full match for Shanghai Shenxin as his side got the home victory over 4th placed Guihou, 2-1.

Socceroos captain Lucas Neill came off the bench to make his debut for Omiya Ardija, as he attempts to regain match fitness since signing for the J-League outfit. However he was unable to prevent his side succumbing to a 3-2 defeat as Omiya continue their slide from the summit, dropping to sixth place.

Alex Wilkinson got his name on the scoresheet for Jeonbuk as his side recorded a 3-0 win in the K-League to move into second place on the ladder.

Earlier in the week, James Holland played the entirety of Austria Wien-s 2-0 away win in their all-important UEFA Champions League qualification playoff against Dinamo Zagreb. The Australian-s side are now in pole position to secure passage through to Europe-s top competition.

A member of last years Premiers Plate winners Rocky Visconte now plies his trade in Thailand for Suphanburi FC. The former Western Sydney Wanderer winger came on early in the second half as his side had 0-0 draw with Chonburi FC.
