Jackson Irvine helped Hull City halt the charge of Championship leaders Norwich City earlier this morning.
The Caltex Socceroos midfielder played 90 minutes in an advanced midfield role as the Tigers ended Norwich’s six-match winning run with a 0-0 stalemate.
Irvine tested Norwich gloveman Tim Krul and laid on a good chance for teammate Jarrod Bowen to help inspire a second half breakthrough.
The point for the Tigers could be a massive one in the context of their Championship season.
Nigel Adkins’ side remain in the relegation zone in 22nd place, but are level on 17 points with Reading, Millwall and Bolton.
Massimo Luongo’s Queens Park Rangers also drew in this morning’s Championship round of fixtures.
The midfielder played 76 minutes of the Londoners’ 2-2 draw with Rotherham United, with his QPR side restoring parity with Luke Freeman’s stoppage-time header.
That result keeps Luongo’s side nicely poised in eighth on the table.
Luongo and Irvine are set to face off at Loftus Road this Sunday morning, with kick off at 2.00am.
