Starting with Saturday's action, Riley McGree stole the show after being in the 63rd minute for Birmingham City during their 2-1 win over Swansea.

Troy Deeney opened the scoring early in the second half before Michael Obafemi restored parity for the Swans.

But with less than 10 minutes remaining, the Socceroos midfielder was slipped in behind, and while his initial shot was blocked, made no mistake in slotting home the rebound into an empty net to seal a huge three points at home.

Over in Germany, Jackson Irvine continued his fine form for FC St. Pauli, scoring his first goal in German football during their emphatic 4-0 win over Hansa Rostock.

The Socceroos midfielder nodded home a well-worked set piece 12 minutes in to open the scoring for his side who would go on to make it five-straight wins and consolidate a three-point lead atop of the 2. Bundesliga.

Up in Denmark, the battle between Socceroos Awer Mabil and Lawrence Thomas did not fail to deliver, as Mabil assisted a dramatic late FC Midtjylland winner past his international teammate.

Thomas' SønderjyskE led early and thought they had done enough to snatch a point, after making it 2-2 in stoppage time, but there would be one last twist to the tale.

Mabil, who was introduced just after the hour mark, lofted a ball to the back stick that was powered home past a powerless Thomas, sealing all three points for the home side with virtually the last action of the contest.

There was also late drama for Aziz Behich’s Giresunspor, as the Socceroos defender's side was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw after conceding in the 92nd minute against Gaziantep.

Behich set up his side's solitary goal with some slick play down the left flank, laying one on a plate for teammate Serginho to slot home.

Meanwhile in Scotland, Tom Rogic produced another consistent 90 minutes for Celtic, who made it four straight wins in all competitions with a 2–0 win over St Johnstone.

The win sees Celtic move to fourth in the Scottish Premiership.

Martin Boyle played a full match for Hibernian’s 1-0 loss to Aberdeen, with the 28-year old picking up a yellow card.

In other English Championship action, Callum Elder played a full 90 minutes at left-back for Hull City in their 1-0 loss to Luton Town.

Meanwhile, the towering Harry Souttar played his 13th league game this season and picked up a yellow card in Stoke’s 2-1 loss to Milwall.

Kenny Dougall started in the heart of midfield for Blackpool in the Seasiders' 2-0 derby win over Preston North End.

In France’s Ligue 2, Denis Genreau played 67 minutes in Toulouse’s 2-2 draw against Paris FC which keeps them one point clear at the top of the table.

Across to Belgium, where defender Trent Sainsbury’s played a full match for KV Kortrijk who claimed an important 1–0 win over Oostende, which pushes them to seventh in the Pro League.

In the second tier, Daniel Arzani started for Lommel SK as they were stung late in a 2-1 defeat to Waasland-Beverin.

In Japan, Mitchell Duke was sent off for Fagiano Okayama after receiving a yellow card in the 49th and 55th minute against Mito HollyCook.

Luckily for Duke, Fagiano was able to scramble a 94th-minute equalizer to rescue a 1-1 draw.

In Spain, Maty Ryan was an unused substitute for Real Sociedad as they maintained their slim lead at the summit of La Liga with a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid.

In Greece, Jimmy Jeggo put in a full shift for Aris as they comfortably overcame Panetolikos 5-1.

Ajdin Hrustic was introduced with 15 minutes remaining of Eintracht Frankfurt's disappointing 2-0 defeat to Bochum, while Milos Degenek was among the substitutes as Red Star Belgrade came away with a tight 1-0 win over Radnički.
