Aussies Abroad: Gielnik's Bayern roll on, De Vanna's Fiorentina lose

Emily Gielnik's Bayern Munich delivered the perfect response to last weekend's defeat to Leverkusen by hammering Sand 5-0 away from home in the Bundesliga.

The Westfield Matildas forward - who signed for the German giants in August - was an unused substitute as a Mandy Islacker double and goals from Jovana Damnjanovic, Linda Dallman and Nicole Rolser moved Munich third on the table.

Next up for the Bavarians is Goteborg in a UEFA Champions League Round of 32 second leg tie in Munich.

Bayern hold a 2-1 advantage, and that one gets underway at 3:00am AEST on Thursday morning.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lisa De Vanna's Fiorentina suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Roma in Serie A.

De Vanna, who opened her account in Italy in last weekend's 4-2 win over Florentia, was summoned from the bench just before the hour mark as The Violets upped the ante for an equaliser, following Annamaria Serturini's 43rd minute opener for Roma.

However, just as the Westfield Matildas forward's introduction began to shake things up, a 66th minute red card for Stephanie Breitner saw Fiorentina go down to 10 players, and Andrine Hegerberg doubled the advantage for Roma late on.

De Vanna's side face English champions Arsenal - managed by former Westfield W-League stalwart Joe Montemurro - in their Champions League Round of 32 second leg tie.

The Italians will arrive in North London on Friday morning, 4:30am AEST kick off, needing to overturn a 4-0 first leg deficit.

In England's WSL Cup, Jacynta Galabadaarachchi's West Ham United fell 2-0 to Chelsea.

Galabadaarachchi made her first start in the Irons' victory against Birmingham last time out, and was a 65th minute substitute on this occasion.

Her introduction added a spark to the Londoners, but goals from Bethany England and Guro Reiten were enough to consign United to defeat.
