Aussies Abroad: Giannou helps AEK Larnaca to victory in Cyprus

There was just one Caltex Socceroo in action overnight.

Apostolos Giannou played 85 minutes for AEK Larnaca in a 2-0 triumph over Alki Oroklini.

That result leaves Giannou’s side in fourth place in the Cypriot First Division.

Meanwhile, Trent Sainsbury and Aziz Behich were unused substitutes as PSV Eindhoven came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against FC Utrecht.

Mark van Bommel’s side were on the brink of just their second defeat of the campaign until Luuk De Jong scored a late equaliser – his second of the match – to extend PSV’s lead at the Eredivisie summit to six points.

Elsewhere, Tom Rogic’s Celtic strolled to a resounding 5-0 victory over St. Johnstone in the Scottish Cup fifth round.

The Caltex Socceroos midfielder remains on the sidelines as he recovers from a knee injury.
