Aussies Abroad | Federici and Reading drop again

Australia's keepers had a mixed bag at the weekend, but sadly for Adam Federici his second run as an EPL keeper is over with Reading relegated.

Adam Federici-s second stint as a top flight keeper has come to an abrupt end with his Reading side being relegated back to The Championship, just one season after the boys from the Madejski Stadium won promotion in style.

The sometime Socceroos keeper could do naught but watch from the bench with an ankle injury has his side lurched to a 0-0 draw against fellow relegation strugglers Queens Park Rangers who also went down as a result.

While the result was catastrophic for Reading it would prove worse for QPR with out on loan bad boy Joey Barton unleashing on them via Twitter.

"I can't believe QPR have just been relegated and Boswinga was walking down the tunnel laughing! Embarrassing. Show some guts man," Barton tweeted.

"Gutted for the club. Too many wankers amongst the playing staff. All brought in by Hughes. Some good lads but not enough. Too many maggots”.

While Federici seemingly won-t be in the Premier league next year, Mark Schwarzer-s future is also up in the air with Fulham manager Martin Jol saying earlier in the weekend that he is exploring his options for goalkeepers, as Schwarzer has yet to commit to the one-year extension offered to him by the Cottagers.

It wasn-t all bad news for Australia-s keepers with Mitch Langerak getting a start for Borussia Dortmund as they defeated Robbie Kruse-s Fortuna Dusseldorf 2-1.

Langerak who has been stuck riding the pine for most of the season behind club captain Roman Weidenfeller came in for praise from manager Jurgen Klopp.

"I am really happy with the game, Mitch pulled off a series of saves," said Klopp,

"If we had conceded a goal at the end of the game, it wouldn't have been undeserved."

While the result was good for Langerak, that wasn't the case for fellow Socceroo Robbie Kruse, the loss kept Dusseldorf just above the relegation places and with just three games left in their season his side will have to take points in their upcoming games to stay ahead of Augsburg in the relegation race and try and get ahead of Werder Bremen.

Elsewhere Tom Rogic earned a start for Celtic, but the Scottish champs were thumped 3-1 by Motherwell.
