Milos Degenek enjoyed a debut night to remember as Al-Hilal came from behind to beat Al-Fateh 4-1 in the Saudi Pro League this morning.
Degenek – alongside other new signings Sebastian Giovinco, Jonathan Soriano and Hattan Bahbari – received a rapturous reception at a packed King Saud University Stadium as the 15-time champions nailed their title ambitions to the mast.
The league leaders trailed when Abdelkader Oueslati tucked away a 11th minute penalty but a Bafetimbi Gomis double and strikes from Carlos Eduardo and Nawaf Al Abed wrapped up an emphatic 4-1 result.
Degenek sealed the switch to the Saudi giants from Red Star Belgrade in January.
Al-Hilal are now six points above title rivals Al Nassr.
Elsewhere in the Saudi Pro League, Matt Jurman’s Al-Ittihad picked up a big 2-0 win away at sixth-placed Al-Wehda.
That result is one of the struggling Al-Ittihad side’s best of the campaign, one that moves them four points ahead of bottom-placed Ohod.
