Aussies Abroad: Joey Caleb Watts debuts in the Premier League

It has been a week to remember for 19-year-old Australian midfielder Caleb Watts.

Seven days after he was handed his Southampton senior debut in the FA Cup, the Joeys representative became the 52nd Australian to take to the pitch in an English Premier League fixture.

Watts replaced Theo Walcott in the 74th minute of the Saints' 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday morning (AEDT), in the process becoming the third Australian to represent Southampton in the Premier League, after former Socceroos Robbie Slater and Scott McDonald.

Maty Ryan was also in attendance at St. Mary's, watching on from The Gunners' substitutes bench. It was the Socceroos goalkeeper's second appearance in a matchday squad for Mikel Arteta's side since making the move on loan from Brighton last week.

Elsewhere in midweek European action, James Jeggo played 69 minutes as Aris enjoyed 1-0 win over AE Larissa. The result took his side back into second place of the Greek Super League.

In Turkey, Aziz Behich played 90 minutes yet again as Kayserispor's strong run of form came to an end with a 3-0 defeat to heavyweights Fenerbahce.

Off the park, Daniel Arzani's time with FC Utrecht came to an end as it was confirmed he would link up with fellow Aussies Alex Gersbach and Zach Duncan at AGF Aarhus for the remainder of the season.
