Aussies in the A-League: Grant and Redmayne seal Premiership with Sydney FC

Sydney FC and Socceroos duo Rhyan Grant and Andrew Redmayne secured the A-League premiership on Saturday night after another stellar campaign.

Sydney FC duo Grant and Redmayne had cause to celebrate on Saturday night after they claimed the 2019/20 A-League premiership.

The Sky Blues were awarded the premiership on Saturday night after 2nd placed Wellington Phoenix drew 1-1 against Adelaide United which meant that they could not be caught by either the Phoenix or 3rd placed Melbourne City.

Sydney hold an 11 point lead over both the Phoenix and City while they also have a game in hand over both sides with four more matches left in their fixture list.

Josh Risdon returned to action with Western United on Saturday night as they overcame Melbourne Victory 2-1 at Bankwest Stadium.

The win came as an early gift for the Socceroos defender who celebrated his 28th birthday on Monday.

He was involved in the build up for the decisive goal after his cross into the box found Connor Pain who in turn teed up Max Burgess for the winner.

Western Sydney Wanderers and Socceroos striker Mitch Duke was on hand to provide the assist for his side’s late equaliser against Central Coast Mariners on Monday night.

Newcastle Jets midfielder Dimitri Petratos made his 200th A-League appearance against Sydney FC on July 21 alongside his two younger brothers Kosta and Maki.

Olyroos and Wellington Phoenix attacker Reno Piscopo was on hand to provide the assist for Jaushua Sotirio’s equaliser against Adelaide United on Saturday night.
