Adelaide United-s thrilling performance in the AFC Champions League and their qualification for the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan will come to a climax LIVE on SBS. From Thursday 11 to Sunday 21 December 2008, the network will broadcast all Adelaide United matches LIVE in their quest for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Adelaide United will join the best football clubs the FIFA confederations have to offer at the FIFA Club World Cup including UEFA Champions League victors, Manchester United and six-time CAF Champions League winners, Ahly Sporting Club.

First match of the tournament for Adelaide United is against O-League champions, New Zealand-s Waitakere United on Thursday 11 December. SBS will broadcast the match LIVE from 9:35pm (AEDT). Les Murray will host the LIVE coverage with SBS Chief Football Analyst Craig Foster and commentary from David Basheer.

The World Game-s Scott McIntyre will be on the ground in Japan to report on all the latest news throughout the FIFA Club World Cup.

"The Club World Cup brings together some of the real heavyweights of international football - 3-time European champion Manchester United; Africa's Club of the Century Al Ahly and South American powerhouse Liga de Quito - all in the same tournament over an 11 day period that promises football of the highest quality,” said Scott McIntyre.

“That Adelaide United, in only their fifth season as a club, are on the same stage as these storied teams is a moment almost as important for Australian football as the Socceroos return to the global stage in 2006."
