A-League Save of Matchweek 14: Joe Gauci, chosen by Mark Bosnich

Adelaide United goalkeeper Joe Gauci capped off his first A-League clean sheet by securing Save of Matchweek 14 honours, as selected by Mark Bosnich.

Gauci kept Sydney FC forward Patrick Wood off the scoresheet with a back-pedalling save from a close-range header which seemed certain to level the scores at 1-1 with just minutes to play at Coopers Stadium.

Instead, Gauci sent the ball over the crossbar and away from danger, helping the Reds keep the Sky Blues goalless in the 1-0 victory.

The quality of the save combined with the enormity of the moment made Gauci's terrific stop a no-brainer when Bosnich considered which save to elect as the best of Matchweek 14.

"There is really only one save that needs to be talked about, and that is Joe Gauci’s outstanding save for Adelaide against Sydney at Coopers Stadium," Bosnich said.

"Fantastic reflexes, really good from a technical perspective.

"Every time you watch it you just think ‘this is going to be a goal’. That was a miracle save."
