Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory have learned their opponents for next year's AFC Champions League after the Group Stage draw was made on Thursday night (AEDT).

The draw for the 2019 AFC Champions League group stage was conducted in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, 22 November at 7.30pm (AEDT).

Sydney FC will take on Chinese Super League winners Shanghai SIPG and J-League champions Kawasaki Frontale in Group H.

The fourth club to feature in Group H will be either the K-League's fourth-seeded club, Malaysia's Perak or Kitchee SC of Hong Kong.

Melbourne Victory have been drawn in Group F alongside Chinese giants Guangzhou Evergrande. Kevin Muscat's side will be joined by the second-seeded team from the K-League and the winner of play-off three.

Meanwhile, Newcastle Jets have been allocated Group E should they navigate past two qualification matches. Group E will also feature the third-seeded team from the K-League, Johor Darul Ta'Zim from Malaysia, and the winner of play-off two.

How do Newcastle Jets qualify for the group stage?

Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Grand Finalists Newcastle Jets are qualifying play-off participants, and will play either Singapore’s Home United or the Indonesian Liga 1 Champions in a preliminary round two clash held on February 12, 2019.

Should Ernie Merrick’s side progress through that encounter, they will travel to Japan to take on the J-League’s fourth place finisher in a play-off round fixture on February 19, 2019.

Currently, Consadole Sapporo hold fourth position in the J-League with two match days remaining, with reigning AFC Champions League winners Kashima Antlers just one point ahead in third spot.
