Today we feature seven-year national team servant David Carney, who won 48 caps and made a habit of scoring long-range stunners.

Best World Cup moment
Selected by Pim Verbeek for South Africa 2010, Carney started the second and third group games and acquitted himself admirably.
The left-back first helped a 10-man Australia earn a 1-1 draw with Ghana, before he played another 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Serbia.
Though it remains his only FIFA World Cup campaign, the Sydney junior can proudly claim to be unbeaten in both of his appearances on football's biggest stage.
Career highlight
Carney was one of the early stars of the Hyundai A-League, playing every match in the inaugural season and scoring six goals as Sydney FC won the 2005/06 Grand Final.
He has added another Championship, two Premierships and an FFA Cup medal since returning to the club in 2016.
And while he missed much of the season with a shoulder injury, the ex-Sheffield United and Blackpool player also featured under Steve McClaren as FC Twente won the Dutch Eredivisie for the first time in their history in 2009/10.
Post-playing career:
Still active as a professional, the 34-year-old has just finished a successful second full season with Sydney FC.
Did you know?
Carney played alongside Wayne Rooney in the Everton side that reached the FA Youth Cup final in 2002, with Rooney netting eight times during the tournament and Carney twice.
