Hyundai A-League Awards

Below is a list of all Hyundai A-League Awards which are presented annually.

The Johnny Warren Medal
 
The Johnny Warren Medal (Medal) is awarded to the Hyundai A-League Player of the year. The Medal is determined by a four body panel who will independently vote on a 3-2-1 basis at the conclusion of each Regular Season Match consisting of:
 
1.    One technical football expert (allocated from a pool of 10-15);
2.    One football media representative (allocated from a pool of 10-15);
3.    One former professional player representative (allocated from a pool of 10-15); and
4.    The Match Officials (a combined vote from the appointed Match Officials).
 
These four votes are then be consolidated into a single official 3-2-1 vote in respect of each Regular Season Match. The eligible Player(s) who receives the most votes for that Regular Season will be determined the winner of the Medal.

Young Footballer of the Year

The Young Footballer of the Year Award is awarded to the best young player of the year. This award is judged by an FFA appointed panel of “experts” and media representatives.

One young player is nominated the best young player each month throughout the season and a player can only win one (1) player of the month nomination during the season.

Coach of the Year

The Coach of the Year award is voted 3-2-1 by the head coach of each team and voting takes place immediately following the conclusion of the Regular Season.

Goalkeeper of the Year

The Goalkeeper of the Year Award is judged by an FFA appointed panel of “experts” at the conclusion of the season.

Goal of the Year

The best goal of the season to be voted for and nominated by an FFA appointed panel of “experts’’ at the conclusion of the season.

Nike Golden Boot

The Nike Golden Boot Award is given to the highest goal scorer at the conclusion of the regular season.
Fair Play Award

Awarded to the team with the lowest number of points on the Hyundai A-League fair play ladder at the conclusion of the regular season.

Points will be awarded as follows:
a. Yellow Card - 1 point
b. 2nd Caution Red Card - 2 points
c. Direct Red Card - 3 points

FFA will consider breaches of Team Misconduct or Code of Conduct in conjunction with points awarded for yellow and red cards.

Referee of the Year

Referee of the Year is judged by the Director of Referees in consultation with the Head of A-League.
The Joe Marston Medal

The best and fairest player of the Grand Final voted on by FFA appointed panel of media representatives.

Player of the Grand Final voted 3-2-1 by the selected media panel.

National Youth League Awards

The following awards will be presented at the conclusion of each National Youth League (NYL) season:
NYL Player of the Year

A best and fairest award voted on by an ‘expert’ panel appointed by the National Technical Director at the conclusion of the NYL Season.

All Players listed on the ‘Player Roster’ are eligible to receive votes, however, only Players defined by the Player Contract Regulations as NYL Players are eligible to win the award.

If a NYL Player is signed to a Hyundai A-League contract during the NYL 2011/12 Season, he is still eligible to win the award as long as he has not participated as a starting player or as a substitute in more than ten (10) Hyundai A-League matches.

NYL Top Goal Scorer (Golden Boot)

The NYL Top Goal Scorer is awarded to the highest goal scorer at the conclusion of the NYL regular season. Only NYL Players are eligible to win the NYL Top Goal Scorer award.

NYL Fair Play Award

The NYL Fair Play Award is awarded to the team with the lowest points on the fair play ladder at the conclusion of the NYL regular season.

Points will be accumulated by every Player who plays in a NYL fixture (irrespective of whether they are registered on the Player Roster or the NYL Roster) and will be awarded as follows:

a. Yellow Card - 1 point;
b. 2nd Caution Red Card - 2 points;
c. Direct Red Card - 3 points.

Ineligibility Rules
 
A Player is ineligible to win the Johnny Warren Medal, Young Footballer of the Year or the Goalkeeper of the Year awards if the Player is:

(A)         suspended as a result of receiving a direct red card in Match;
(B)         suspended as a result of a determination of a body under the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations;
(C)         convicted of an anti-doping offence;
(D)         found guilty of serious misconduct as determined by FFA;
(E)         a Guest Player; and/or
(F)         found guilty of breaching an FFA Statute and FFA determines that as a result of such breach the Player is ineligible to win the Johnny Warren Medal, Young Footballer of the Year or the Goalkeeper of the Year awards.
